Business Spotlight
When it comes to planning life's most precious moments, having the right person by your side can make all the difference. On a recent episode of the Good Neighbor Podcast, we had the pleasure of speaking with Deepti Tyagi, the creative force behind Weddings and Events by 7Elements, a full-service event planning and decoration company serving the Dallas area.
Deepti's journey into event planning is as fascinating as it is inspiring. Born and raised in India, she began her professional career in the fashion industry after studying at IFT Delhi. For five years, she honed her design skills working with global accounts before opening her own boutique in 2005. Her eye for aesthetics and understanding of client needs served her well during the eight years she operated her fashion business. However, life took an unexpected turn in 2014 when Deepti moved to Dallas with her husband and young children.
The transition to a new country presented both challenges and opportunities. While taking time off to focus on her family, Deepti discovered a new outlet for her creative talents: volunteering for school and community events. What began as casual assistance soon evolved into paid projects by 2017, marking the official beginning of Weddings and Events by 7Elements. This organic evolution from fashion designer to event planner showcases Deepti's adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit—qualities that serve her well in the dynamic world of event planning.
One of the most common misconceptions Deepti encounters is that event planners are only necessary for large-scale gatherings. She quickly dismisses this notion, emphasizing that professional planning services can actually save clients time and money regardless of the event size. By helping clients avoid common pitfalls and streamlining the planning process, Deepti and her team add value to celebrations of all sizes—from intimate baby showers to elaborate weddings. This practical approach to event planning makes Seven Elements accessible to a diverse clientele, explaining why most of their business comes through word-of-mouth referrals, social media connections, and venue partnerships.
Building a business in a new country came with its share of challenges. Deepti candidly shared that while she had extensive support systems in India, establishing her business in the United States required greater independence and self-reliance. Meeting vendors, mastering planning tools, and navigating technological challenges were hurdles she overcame with determination and family support. Her husband helped with technology aspects, while her children, now older, offer suggestions and feedback. What began as a solo venture has grown into a team effort, with Deepti now leading a group of professionals who share her commitment to excellence.
Beyond her professional achievements, Deepti values family time, movie nights, and adventures with Ollie, their energetic Maltipoo puppy. These personal touches reveal the woman behind the business—someone who understands the importance of creating joyful moments because she cherishes them in her own life. When asked what listeners should remember about Weddings and Events by Seven Elements, Deepti's answer reflected this philosophy: "We care deeply about every event. It's not just about planning or decoration. It's about creating something special for someone's big day. We listen to our clients and give them a setup that matches their vision."
