What makes Jeny Rendon with Oh my Gatos, they said "I do!" a good neighbor?

When life throws unexpected challenges our way, sometimes the most beautiful opportunities emerge. This is exactly what happened to Jeny Rendon, founder of the uniquely named wedding coordination service Oh my Gatos, they said "I do!" After being laid off from her corporate job in September 2024, Jeny found herself helping a friend plan a wedding in just a month and a half. Little did she know this would be the catalyst for an exciting new career path that combines her passion for weddings and her love for her five feline companions.

Jeny’s journey into the wedding industry wasn't a sudden decision. For years, she had been the go-to person among friends and family when it came to wedding planning, coordination, and even officiating ceremonies. Her experience ranges from coordinating her brother’s wedding in just three months to officiating ceremonies with personalized scripts that capture the unique love stories of each couple. What sets Jeny apart in the industry is her understanding that beautiful, meaningful weddings shouldn’t be reserved only for those with unlimited budgets. She’s committed to making wedding magic accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation.

One of the most common misconceptions Jeny encounters in her work is the confusion between wedding day coordinators and wedding planners. While both play crucial roles in creating successful celebrations, their responsibilities differ significantly. Wedding planners typically work with couples from the very beginning of the process, helping with everything from venue selection to decor themes and vendor coordination. In contrast, wedding day coordinators step in when couples have already completed most of the planning but need someone to execute their vision on the actual day. As Jeny explains, couples “hand over all your planning baby to me and I make sure that we execute strongly and that we make your day just be what you pictured and envisioned it to be.” This service is invaluable for couples who want to be fully present and enjoy their special day without worrying about logistics, timing, or handling unexpected issues.

The inspiration behind the catchy name Oh my Gatos, they said "I do!" came from a serendipitous photoshoot at Park Hill. When asked to bring formal attire for portraits with her pets, Jeny decided to wear her freshly cleaned wedding dress for a photo with Vienna, one of her five beloved cats. The resulting image, combined with her signature expression of “oh my gatos” (a play on “oh my God” that she often used in her corporate job), sparked the perfect business name. This charming origin story reflects Jeny’s personality and the unique touch she brings to her wedding services – professional yet personal, sophisticated yet approachable.

Perhaps one of the most heartwarming aspects of Oh my Gatos is its commitment to giving back. Jeny proudly donates 10% of all proceeds to cat adoption organizations, inspired by her own experiences with rescue cats and the joy they’ve brought to her life. Three of her five cats came to her as rescues, and while she jokes about the “cat randomizer” that seems to keep selecting her, her solution isn’t to adopt them all herself but to support responsible adoption organizations. This philanthropic element adds another layer of meaning to clients’ decisions to work with Oh my Gatos, allowing them to contribute to animal welfare while creating their perfect wedding day.
